  1. — Expanded all 62 metal profiles with additional primary research, named organisms and pathways, close readings of key experiments, and open research questions. Each entry identifies the experimental setting and distinguishes findings from interpretation; the reviewed date appears on the profile.
  2. — Standardized authored text to American English; added numbered, linked superscript citations, matching reference lists, return links, and printable sources. Source-attribution and interpretation corrections are documented with dated notes on the affected articles.
  3. — Added email digest signup with email confirmation and an unsubscribe option in every digest. RSS feeds remain available. Editions will be prepared and sent by the editor; none has been sent or scheduled yet.
  4. — Added linked author identifiers, current affiliations, a richer researcher directory, evidence and reading tools, editorial guidance, and complete content feeds.
  5. — Launched the journal design on microbialmetallomics.com and introduced Critical Commentary. The previously published tampon-metals article retained its text and original publication date.

A broader metals atlas and corrected evidence

The metals atlas now covers 70 elements in 62 sourced profiles. Each entry separates microbial mechanisms, community or host evidence, chemical form, and uncertainty. Search accessibility and newsletter input validation have also been improved.

Scientific corrections address a nickel reference-point unit, the limits of tobacco and Parkinson’s evidence, and three bibliography mismatches. See the dated correction notes in the affected essays and reviews, including nickel, Parkinson’s, prenatal tobacco, and the tampon commentary.
